Movie Review: Monte Carlo

The Plot
The movie centers around the main star Grace (Selena Gomez) who has just graduated from highschool, she has been saving up for a long time for a vacation in Paris along with her bestfriend Emma (Katie Cassidy), excited for the trip they were suprised when Grace's parents decided that her stepsister Maggie (Leighton Meester), should also jpin in on the trip, but as the movie progresses it shows that Grace and Maggie don't really get along that well. They go on an organized bus trip around Paris at a very fast-paced rate, not really being able to take in the sites or even have no time to finish their food! The motel that they were assigned to stay in is old and decrepit, their long-time planned Paris trip was a disaster! However, this is the time when the story takes a twist, after being soaked in the rain when their bus left them, Grace frustrated and dripping wet spontaneously went inside a lavish hotel. While inside her stepsister and bestfriend discover that she has a striking resemblance to the heiress Cordelia Winthrop Scott.
The hotel staff mistook Grace as the heiress and led her as well as her companions to the best suite inside the hotel. Suddenly, their disastrous vacation in Paris turned into a lavish get-away to Monte Carlo.
With the knowledge that Cordelia Scott will not be going to Monte Carlo to attend the fund raiser that was dedicated to her; Grace pretends to be the her (with a little prodding from her mischievous bestfriend) so that they could take advantage of the wonderful opportunity to be rich, even if it's just for a few days.
While in Monte Carlo, the ladies fall in love and find where they really want to do with their lives.

Over-all

The movie has a good storyline, Selena Gomez plays the two characters perfectly and she has a nice British accent when she becomes the heiress character, Katie Cassidy is believable as the bestfriend, I specially loved the scene where she went on a date with the price in the yacht, the dress that she wore looked great on her! However, I hard time with the character of Maggie played by Leighton Meester when she becomes loose and carefree at the end, because of the fact that I am used to seeing here play the composed and uber-rich character of Blair Wardolf in the TV series "Gossip Girl"
I liked it but it's somehow lacking in excitement because I had a feeling that I know what's going to happen next, and what I expected really did happen. I hope that there would have been more that happened between the characters Theo and Grace, it just felt like there was more screen time for romance between Maggie and her partner.

Popcorns, anyone?
I give the movie 3 out of 5 Popcorns. It's better if you just rent out the DVD instead of going to the movies for this.

Here is the trailer. Happy watching!
